Questions to answer before choosing a light

Should I start with the room or the fixture?

Start with the place that needs light and the activity it supports. Measure the table, wall or floor space, then compare fixtures that suit that position. A favourite material or shape can guide the look, but it should work with the space rather than decide the measurements for you.

How do I compare sizes accurately?

Use the dimensions of the selected configuration, not just the first photograph. For a pendant, distinguish the shade or body height from its cable, chain or rod. For wall lights, check projection as well as height and width. For table and floor lamps, include both the shade and the base when checking the available space.

Are model choices the same as size choices?

Not always. A listing may offer different shapes, light counts, repeated-model arrangements or a set containing several models. Read the exact option label and compare its dimensions. A model set and a separate multi-piece bundle are different quantity choices; confirm the contents of your selection before ordering.

What is the difference between plug-in and rechargeable lighting?

A plug-in light uses an outlet during operation and needs a route for its cord. A rechargeable lamp runs on a battery while in use and must be charged as instructed. Check the product's own power, plug, voltage and charging details. A portable lamp is not automatically suitable for outdoor or wet locations.

Does warm light mean the fixture is dimmable?

No. Light colour and brightness control are different features. Check whether the exact selected version supports dimming and which light source or control it requires. A product offering several light-colour options does not necessarily allow you to change that colour after installation.

Are bulbs included?

That depends on the product and sometimes the size. Some fixtures use integrated LEDs; others require separate bulbs, which may or may not be included. Check the selected configuration's bulb base and requirements before ordering rather than assuming every fixture in a collection is the same.

Will natural stone look exactly like the photograph?

Natural stone can vary in pattern and tone. Use the product photographs to understand the material and construction, and read the listing's variation notes. Do not rely on one photographed vein or mark as a feature guaranteed to appear in the piece you receive.

Can I choose a light for a bathroom or outdoor area from its appearance?

No. Appearance does not establish suitability for moisture or weather. Check the product's stated location rating and instructions for the intended position. If the information is missing or conflicting, confirm it before buying.

What should I check before installation?

Review the fixture's dimensions, weight, suspension or mounting arrangement, power requirements and included parts. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and local requirements, with qualified installation help where needed.
